This post is a list of prayers for your marriage. I have included six prayer topics and verses that you can use to pray over your marriage.

Praying For Your Marriage

These marriage prayers are wonderful no matter what season of marriage you are in.

I do my best to make it a habit to pray often for my marriage. I know that it is something I should do daily and that is my goal. While I may not always reach that goal I absolutely try my best. I want our marriage to stand the test of time. When I said “till death do us part” I really did mean it.

You can pray these prayers for your marriage yourself or you and your spouse can pray them together. Either way, they will be a great blessing for both your marriage and your relationship with Christ.

6 Prayers For Your Marriage

1. Pray for the health of your marriage

God created marriage and the Bible tells us that marriage is important to God. Pray that God will help to strengthen your marriage. Ask God to bring you and your spouse closer together every day.

“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.”” Genesis 2:18

2. Pray that God will grow your love

Ask that God will grow the love you have for your spouse every day. Pray that God will help you to see the good qualities of your husband or wife.

“Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

3. Pray to keep God at the center

Pray that God will remain forever at the center of your marriage. Ask that the Lord be the strong foundation on which your marriage is built. You can also pray that you and your spouse will always turn to God in hard times. Pray that both of you remember to lean on Christ.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2

4. Pray for grace in your marriage

Go to God in prayer and ask that he will help each of you to give grace to one another. Pray that God will help you to find forgiveness and kindness toward your spouse.

“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

5. Pray for your finances

Ask for God to give you wisdom and discernment in your financial choices. Pray that God will guide you in this area of your marriage and life.

“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

6. Give thanks to God for your marriage

No list of prayers for your marriage would be complete without including a prayer of thanksgiving. Praise God for the husband/wife that he chose for you. Give thanks to God for the gift of marriage and the ways that God has blessed your marriage.

“Hallelujah! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.” Psalm 106:1
