What is my homemaker schedule in 2022? I’m sharing some tips on creating your own schedule for the new year.

When my husband and I first decided that I should stay home as a full time homemaker I knew that I was going to take this new season of life very seriously. I wanted to treat homemaking like any other job. I have always felt so passionately that homemaking is of immense value and importance so I wanted my time in the home to reflect those values.
Homemaker Schedule 2022
Today with two small children my daily schedule looks different than when we had one child and even more different than my pre-children schedule.
A homemaker schedule is not a one size fits all and I find there to be so much beauty in that . Your home is not like mine so your schedule will not be exactly like mine. Your home and family are unique so what works for you may not work the same for everyone else. Do not compare your schedule to mine or anyone else’s.

No Two Homemakers Will Have The Exact Same Schedule
One constant that has remained throughout the different shades of my homemaking (and helped me keep my sanity) is having well developed routines and systems in place for the reoccurring housekeeping that needs to be done. I have curated routines for cleaning, meal planning, and similar tasks.
Those routines have served me so well through homemaking without children, foster care, morning sickness, babies, and toddlers. The routines have been updated and modified where needed but the bones have always remained.
What Does A Homemaker Do All Day?
Although no two days look the same my basic schedule looks like this:
1:00am & 3:00am – nurse the baby
7:00am- wake up, make/serve breakfast, get everyone dressed, read alouds, start daily chores
10:30am- make/serve snack to toddler, read Bible story, do an activity (paint, color, sensory box, etc) or play outside depending on the weather, finish daily chores, start weekly chores
12:30pm- make/serve lunch, tidy kitchen, toddler nap time, and depending on how the baby is feeling I’ll either relax with her or finish up my chores for the day
2:30/3:00pm- toddler wakes up, make/serve snack, finish chores if not already done, work on any special projects around the house if baby allows, play outside/do an activity, start dinner
5:30pm- dinner, clean up kitchen, bedtime routines
7:30- spend time with husband and baby is usually cluster feeding in the evenings
10:30pm bedtime

Advice For Your Schedule In 2022
If I could offer you advice as you are putting together your own personal homemaker schedule then I would say this….
- Do not overbook yourself.
- Just because you are home does not mean that your job is not as important as the woman (or man) who goes into the office. You are allowed to say “no”.

- Schedule down time
- I am not a seasoned mama but in my years of motherhood I have found that the best memories are made during the simple moments. You do not need to always be on the go.

- You’ll have bad or off days
- Even if being a homemaker is what you’ve always wanted you will still have bad days. A bad day does not mean a bad life.

Thanks for sharing your heart in this post! I’ve gotten out of our routine and was looking for inspiration to get back into it when I found you. I homeschool 6 kids and homemaking often gets pushed to the background when I am not careful… and with a recent missions trip to Peru with the whole family and sickness before and after, we are way out of the “dream” routine! I love what you said about taking our jobs as homemakers very seriously! I often need that reminder, especially when we’ve fallen out of practice. I’m excited to get our cleaning checklist updated and printed for Monday morning!
