It is officially fall and that means it’s time for a good pumpkin spice coffee. I love pumpkin flavor for a lot of things but having it in my morning coffee just makes my heart happy. And sure I like the Starbucks pumpkin spice coffee but my budget does not appreciate it nearly as much. That’s why I knew I needed to find a way to elevate my regular ground coffee for pumpkin spice season.
Because I already have homemade french vanilla creamer and homemade caramel creamer that I adore I knew I wanted to put together a homemade coffee creamer that would be my best friend during the fall season. My husband would have an absolute fit if I tried to convince him to drink coffee from pumpkin spice coffee grounds (he’s a pumpkin latte grinch) and brewing multiple pots of different flavors of coffee every morning just seemed a little too much. So I decided to bring the fall flavor of pumpkin to my regular medium roast coffee by using flavored coffee creamer.

How Do You Make Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer?
This simple recipe only calls for 3 ingredients:
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Whole milk
- Pumpkin Pie Extract
Other tools you need:
- A whisk
- Small saucepan
- Airtight container (I like to use these glass carafe pitchers that have a lid but you can use a mason jar or any other container you have on hand.)
Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer Versus Store-Bought
Store-bought creamers are readily available at your local grocery store, making you wonder why bother with homemade coffee creamer recipes.
I relish the fact that homemade coffee creamer is fresher and healthier compared to the options found at the local grocery store. Creating my own coffee creamer grants me full control over the ingredients, allowing me to skip any artificial sweeteners or preservatives, resulting in a coffee experience that’s a little different and more personalized. Plus, adding a touch of pumpkin spice can make it truly special.
Making The Best Pumpkin Coffee Ever
The first step towards preparing your taste buds for pumpkin season is to pour your sweetened condensed milk and whole milk into a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Using your whisk stir continuously to combine the two ingredients being cautious not to scald your milk. You want the creamer to be warmed through but do not bring it to a simmer or boil.
Next, add in your pumpkin spice blend extract. I had no trouble finding this ingredient in grocery stores but pumpkin spice lovers can also order it online if your grocery store does not carry this extract as one of their pumpkin spice choices.
Now that everything is incorporated together in the perfect blend, coffee lovers are ready to transfer your homemade pumpkin spice coffee creamer into whatever airtight container you will be using to store it in. If you are using a glass container be sure to set a kitchen towel under your glass container before pouring in the hot liquid. This will prevent your glass jar from shattering at the temperature change.
How To Make A Classic Pumpkin Spice Latte
Brew your coffee as your normally would in the morning. This can be with a french press or any kind of coffee makers that you prefer. Whether you are using light roast, dark roast, whole beans, k-cup pods, fair trade, arabica beans, whole bean from coffee chains, or great value brand it really does not matter. That’s the benefit to using flavored creamer instead of trying to hunt out the best pumpkin spice coffee beans. Just make your regular coffee the way you like it the most. We love Dunkin Donuts brand coffee the best but again, choose what you like most.
Next, working in small batches, add the homemade pumpkin spice creamer and let your dreams of pumpkin spice flavored coffee come true. One thing to keep in mind is that this creamer is on the sweeter side so that is why I suggest adding only a small amount at first. Everyone prefers different levels of sugar in their coffee so there is no magic measurement of creamer to coffee ratio. Find the perfect balance that works for you.
Storing Your Homemade Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Store your homemade creamer in an airtight container in your fridge. You creamer should last around 7-10 days but I can honestly say that ours is always used before I have had a chance to really test that out. Take note of the expiration date of your milk when you are making the creamer because that could have an effect as well.
Luckily, this creamer is so easy to make that even if you run out of it quickly you can make up another batch super fast. You do not have to drink your coffee black unless that’s just a thing you like to do.
