Daily Cleaning Routine

I am a FIRM believer that a consistent daily cleaning routine is an absolute necessity in a homemakers bag of tricks.

My daily cleaning routine keeps me on track and keeps my home in order. Even if I fall behind on my weekly cleaning tasks as long as I at least check off those daily chores I know that things will stay orderly and the place will not fall into shambles.

My four step daily cleaning routine has followed me through many different seasons of life. I believe that the reason it works so well is because it is so simple.

1. Make The Bed

Making the bed every day seems to have a bad reputation. I find that my entire room feels so much more put together when the bed is made. Also, it takes less than two minutes. That is a very low time investment for such a big pay off.

Crazy Fact. The National Sleep Foundation found that “those who make their beds every day or almost every day are more likely than those who do so less often or not at all to say they get a good nights sleep every day or almost every day.”

2. Ten Minute Tidy

You have to set the timer. Set it for 10 minutes and then rush around and tidy as many things as possible before the timer goes off. You will be surprised by how much you can get done in such a short amount of time.

3. One Load Of Laundry

Wash. Dry. Fold. Put Away.

One small load every single day keeps the mountain of laundry away.

4. Clean The Kitchen

Before I wind down for the night I make sure that the kitchen is clean. Dishes are in the dishwasher or put away. Counters clean. Sink empty and shinning. The whole thing. I love waking up to a fresh start in the morning.

Keep It Simple

The most important part of having a cleaning routine is to DO it.

Just keep going. I believe in you!
