Knowing your self-worth as a woman and a Christian is an important part of understanding your identity in Christ. That is why I have put together this resource of Bible verses about women’s self worth.

The only way to fully understand and appreciate your self-worth is by spending time reading the Word of God and growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ. It is one thing to say that you were made in the image of God. But it is another thing entirely when you understand the character of God and what being His image bearer truly means.
As you read these through these Bible verses about women’s self worth I want to encourage you to pray that the Lord would open your eyes and your heart to see yourself the way that Christ Jesus sees you.

Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others].

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

What Does The Bible Say About A Woman Taking Care Of Herself?
When we read the book of Matthew we see that Jesus was constantly burdened with the task of looking after others. As a woman, wife, and mother that resonates very deeply with me. Much of the job of a homemaker is looking after others and taking care of the home.
Because Jesus came to us as both fully God and fully man He experienced much of the same stress, anxiety, and struggles that we do. In the book of Matthew when Jesus is being asked to heal, provide, and teach he likely felt a good deal of pressure. As a woman I can relate to how Jesus felt. I can also take comfort in knowing that Jesus has a deep and personal understanding of my own emotions. He lived them.
Taking Care Of Yourself Is Not Selfish.
Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
I see in this verse that God says it is important for me, and you, to be continually restored. You cannot be restored in your purpose and faith if you are not taking care of yourself.
Self Care In The Bible
We do not see Jesus going to a spa day with the disciples. I am not saying that a spa day is bad! However, I want you to think of self care differently from how it is portrayed in the world. Much of self care, and respecting your self worth, is about taking care of more basic needs.
These verses in Matthew talk about physiological needs and time to rest. Both are important parts of self care. Taking care of the body and mind that God gave you is a great first step towards appreciating your self worth as a Christian woman.
Matthew 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

A wonderful look at how God views homemakers and women is found in Proverbs 31. If you are not familiar with this passage or would like a deeper understanding of what it means I have a free Bible study based on Proverbs 31 that you can find here.
Proverbs 31:10-31 (CSB)
Who can find a wife of noble character? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack anything good. She rewards him with good, not evil, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with willing hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from far away. She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions for her female servants. She evaluates a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard with her earnings. She draws on her strength and reveals that her arms are strong. She sees that her profits are good, and her lamp never goes out at night. She extends her hands to the spinning staff, and her hands hold the spindle. Her hands reach out to the poor, and she extends her hands to the needy. She is not afraid for her household when it snows, for all in her household are doubly clothed. She makes her own bed coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known at the city gates, where he sits among the elders of the land. She makes and sells linen garments; she delivers belts to the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. Her mouth speaks wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: “Many women have done noble deeds, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. Give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.
